I would add some fun framed posters over your table. One on each wall. If you are going to add some purple or teal, find some posters with those colors in them:

Is it possible to move your seating down or place the couch at this end at the other end. Then you could pull out the table into the middle of the room and place a chair on either end. Add a nice runner on the table and a centrepiece or candles. You could also move it to the window on the left, which will be a great place to eat, even though it may be a bit further from the kitchen (and move coat rack).
