I would call a professional to have the frameless shower door installed. Contractors are great but they aren't perfect.

My contractor had the frameless shower door guys measure and install the door. And he is an awesome, meticulous reliable contractor. That glass is thick and heavy. It should be done by professionals who do just that and know hope to do it!

Keep in mind frameless showers are very tricky to install and balance properly. Usually there is no warranty on them if you or your contractor install them.

Please do not let your contractor install them. If he is truly as copious as you say, he will gladly have the experts who do nothing but put doors in do that.
I love to do meticulously detailed work, but still had a subcontractor put in this door. They're just better at it.

I am a tile contractor for 30 yrs. Do not let the General contractor or tile contractor install the enclosure! They must be done properly and are very heavy. You don't want an accident during or after installation! A reputable glass contractor or shower door company will guaranty their work and are good at what they do. You wouldn't have you're automobile mechanic do your dentistry would you? Just saying!

Go to a reputable, experienced glass place that's been in business for a long time, not a big box store.

we had glass shower doors installed by a company experienced in glass products. This is not where you want to try to save by doing yourself or ordering sight onseen. When I first tried to talk to the salespeople at several reputable big box stores they did not even seem like they were able or wanted to help. Perhaps it is a liability issue.

Your contractor should have a relationship with a glass company who specializes in this. They will template on site, return and install. Do NOT let the contractor do this, and frankly, I am mystified as to why he didn't include and price accordingly in his estimate for the project. My clients don't buy frameless glass doors, or any glass doors and no reputable contractor would assume the responsibility of install. Even transporting them to the site is dicey......they ride securely on the exterior of a truck in most cases....
