Corner Cabinet Concern

The first photo is our corner cabiet closest to our side door. Depth wise, it's flush with the countertop hence losing counter function space and difficult access to the light switches and outlet. It looks really odd because the rest of our cabinets are not flush with the countertops. When you come in from the side door the a slab of red oak greets you *pow*! The second photo is the other corner cabinet. My concern is obviously the first photo...is it just me who finds this odd? What other options should we have as we would like to keep this a corner cabinet?

Put a window valence or treatment up over the Windows first, they may fill in and balance the cabinets

Corner cabinets take up a lot of space. The reason it looks so much deeper than the other corner cabinet is because your countertop ends at the wall instead of turning on a right angle and continuing. If you want to keep a corner cabinet, I'm not sure you have any other options.

Our cabinet guy is going to build a new one that's 21"x21" instead of 24"x24". We'll see what 3" does.

You could just put a regular wall cabinet there.

yes, just a plain cabinet over the counter was what was needed, no reason at all to make that corner. best of luck with the smaller size.

We see this happen on occasion. I think you would be happier with just a plain (not corner) cabinet over to the right of the window. A corner cabinet will continue to feel out of proportion for the space - even reduced another 3".

Thank you Deborah! We ended up settling with the standard cabinet and are very happy with our decision.
