I am a newbie. Just a beginner gardener so need easy to grow seeds. I was successful with zinnia and marigold this year and have some seeds to trade. Val, wanted you to know I got my packet of seeds today. There were about 4-5 packets in there I really wanted, which was a pleasant surprise. All the seeds were packaged so well, and I just wanted to say thank you. :)

UPDATE:

If you want to request mostly veggie OR mostly flower seeds, you MUST do so in a note when you send your stamps. I cant always come back on line and check out what you've said and what you want. Im happy to take some "requests", but of course this depends on what has been donated. Donations have been rolling and and I've got a good stash of seed that will be going out to newbies as they request/send their stamps/label. I'm furiously packing seed! Im trying to make this as easy as possible and not alot of rules, etc. but appreciate your reading the rules and updates so this goes smoothly and so I can concentrate my time/efforts where most needed.

Hi Val, and everyone who has contributed to the Newbie Seed Project - the envelope of seeds arrived today and it was so surprising and amazing to open the envelope and see dozens of gorgeously wrapped and labeled seed packets tumble out. Flowers, vegetables, herbs, annuals, perennials, things that have been on my wish list and things I've never heard of! Google is going to be sick of me in no time. Thank you to Val for organizing and coordinating this, and to all the (many) gardeners who contributed seeds. There are so many names on the different seed packets. This is such a meaningful and exciting gift to have arrive in the mail! Thank you again for taking such good care of the 'newbies' and sharing your love of gardening. PLEASE GO TO YOUR EDIT PROFILE PAGE AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR CURRENT EMAIL ADDRESS LISTED CORRECTLY.

Then go to ADVANCED SETTINGS (<<--click here)

Scroll down to "Privacy settings"

and select the option of “ALLOW ANYONE TO MESSAGE ME” under "Who can message me".

Go to ADVANCED SETTINGS

Look for - Climate Zone for Garden Forums - and fill in your zone.

To make/edit your wants/have list:

Go to ADVANCED SETTINGS

-Then click on the box under “My GardenWeb Trading List”

-Type/paste in your seeds in a vertical list

(much easier to read than a horizontal list with commas between).

I empathize with your loss, but so glad to hear you are able to get back into gardening, as it is my happy place, too. I am recently divorced, lost my home in the divorce, which I had spent many years planting so as to be more self sufficient. So starting over again. Has taken me a few years to recoup from my loss, but I know that gardening is going to be good for me, too.
