I would go with a light gray.

I have a cream with a bit of beige - just enough to set off my white trim. In general, warm colors or blues blend better with mid tone woods than grey, but grey is a possibility because of your dark counters.

A light blue will help break up and contrast with all that orange.

Don't be afraid of colour. If you put lights under your cupboards, add a great, glossy backsplash that is lighter than what you have you could use a DARK grey on the walls to make the focus where you want it... a darker colour will bring out the wood tones and textures. Without seeing the rooms through the other openings any specific colour would be hard to call out [for me]. It will also blend in your stainless appliances. You could also use strip LEDs or rope lights on the top of the cupboards to brighten the ceiling and make the space pop.

Here's another view from the back of kitchen looking out to the eating area/hallway/family room. All the orange/peach/plum colors we have going on have to go! The kitchen has a lot of wall so there would be a lot of color. Aren't most people doing neutral kitchens nowadays?!

It's been a challenge and a half picking out a kitchen color and then working from there. I like SW Kilim Beige (specifically for hallway and entryway). I don't know if it's too 'blah' for the kitchen though. We've tried SW Favorite Tan and my hubby says it's too dark. BM Bleeker Beige that was suggested may work. I'd prefer the kitchen be a slightly different color than the hallway/entryway even if it's a shade darker or lighter on the palette.

Also the brick on our family room fireplace has a lot of red/grey/browns going on so doing a cool color like blues just won't work. It's gotta be something that blends with the brick too and also coordinates with the kitchen. Argh!

You have a beautiful kitchen, cydier, very well done. However, the color trends are moving away from warm colors to cool colors like grays and whites. I like the idea of a charcoal gray for your kitchen walls. It will update your kitchen and complement your existing cabinets, stainless appliances, countertops and floor. I have a few suggestions: Sherwin Williams 7674 Peppercorn - don't be afraid of the dark color since most of your walls are covered by cabinets, there will only be a minimum of charcoal gray showing. I see you also have a short wall entering into the kitchen. It would be a beautiful accent wall for some framed artwork, at least 3 pieces stacked top to bottom. White frames against a charcoal wall would be stunning. Charcoal would also look great with your fireplace brick. Here are two lighter charcoal grays - SW 0077 Classic French Gray and SW 7047 Porpoise. If the charcoal is too dramatic, take a look at SW 0023 Pewter Tankard, a pewter color that would make a nice bridge between warm and cool. Whichever paint you choose, my suggestions or others' suggestions, be sure and get some samples and paint poster boards that you can move around the room so you can see how your existing colors will relate.

Please do not add gray to your beautiful kitchen! If you go one shade darker than Kilim Beige you will find Nomadic Desert. It is my go-to color. It looks good with everything and has no undertones. I have KB and ND on adjoining walls....great combo.

Everyone has their own opinion and certainly do what works best for you - but earthy tones are no longer current.

I too love Nomadic Desert and Kilim Beige and have both in my own home. Either one would be beautiful in your kitchen. I'd go with the KB in the kitchen as ND in my experience dries darker than what you see in the sample.

Your current wall color is terrible with the cabinets. It looks pink next to the orange tones in the wood. Go with a light sage green on the walls. It will enhance the look of the cabinets--you'll be amazed at what a positive difference it makes. The sage will work well with the other walls that connect.

Also, don't worry that it doesn't "match" your granite. Sometimes matching is the worst thing you can do.

Do any of these stand out to you? From left to right - Kilim Beige, Favorite tan (green undertone) and Nomadic Dessert. Any work or keep looking?

What about a taupe? Would you suggest that? I was thinking SW Tony Taupe but that might be a bit dark.

Also, we don't get a ton of light in this kitchen due to poor exposure so having these burnt orange walls makes it appear even darker!

I think that Kilim beige might work best for yr dilemma

The ref pic shows a brick back splash similar in colour to your fireplace.

The dark counter tops in the ref pic appear to be similar to yours and the walls appear to be a light beige similar to the kilim

I agree with Michelle Schuman. Tans and beiges are safe but bland. Once you add the peppercorn suddenly colors you may not have seen in your granite will pop.

It will look great with your stainless appliances also. Step out of your comfort zone and try something new. The peppercorn will look amazing with your brick fireplace too.

Yeah, the Peppercorn would look great as the accent wall against the fireplace! Need to find a nice lighter color to go with it for the other family room walls. :)

How about a greige in the kitchen? Is there something that isn't too dark or too grey (maybe more on the beige) that would work?

How about Agreeable Gray, it more of a tanish gray.

I am deathly afraid of using Peppercorn in my kitchen! LOL! I wish I just had the walls that surround the cabinet but there's other larger/big walls in the kitchen that have to be the same color. A nice dark color like that would be perfect for my fireplace accent wall but maybe something slightly more brown with red undertones. Hmmm...this is way way too difficult.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned BM Revere Pewter - it's a great mix of gray and beige - greige. If charcoal scares you, it could be your perfect solution.
