French Country or Shingles

Siding dilemma: Trying to decide whether to maintain the stucco and just change the color and add shutters or go with nantucket style shingles. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. The home is located in CT. Therefore not sure if keeping the stucco is the best decision.

Ideally we want to resell the house and feel that the shingle will be more appealing for the area. While we like the french country European feel, we don't know if its best to keep the look or change it. The main reason also is we are changing some doors and windows, as such the stucco will have to be redone. Would you still keep the stucco in this case? If so what color would you use? Thanks for the input.

I would keep the stucco unless there's a good reason to invest in shingles.

Your home will be lovely either way. I'd consult with a realtor to get feedback on what style will appeal to the most potential buyers if resell is in the future. Also consider upkeep and maintenance. Shingles still need to be oiled every seven years or so, but my neighbor's stucco house seems to take a beating in our New England weather.

I would keep the stucco since it's consistent with the home's architectural style.

Keep the stucco and eliminate those awnings in the front. IMO they are terribly distracting from the architecture of the home.

Mansard roofs are just un appealing in general. Perhaps french style country shutters on bottom windows.

I just love mansard roofs. Maybe it's the little Dutch girl in me.

I definitely think you should keep the stucco. It's beautiful, it ain't broke, don't fix it.
