So there is a grand total of 18 varieties. Four (4 - 5?) of them will go in pots and the rest in raised beds. That will be a total of 25 plants, approx. This will be a good 50% reduction/cut back from 2015. I want to have some fun, not too much work. For the same reason I won't be growing any hot peppers. I have enough supplies for years.

What are your plans for 2016? Any yet ? Too early ?

Some of the above were total disappointment. You can blame it on (what ?). I had other varieties sharing the same bed that did very nicely. Well, after all i planted so many to pick a few winners, which I did.

Hows the Sakharnyi Zheltyi? I am looking for a mellow/low acid beefsteak

Peter, I will be growing it for the first time. But I have heard good things about it. The Russian name translates to "sugary Yellow/orange = sweet yellow" . So it won't be acidic. It is said to be early, productive and meaty. Average size about 8 oz.

I grew another yellow this year. It was very productive. It is called AZOYCHKA. It is the one in the center of the picture below. This one is more yellow. SZ is more orange color.

My growing season is just beginning (zone 10b), I finally got the whiteflies infestation under control mostly, but there could be more from around the neighborhood. I'm going to try growing Parkseed's Nectar over the winter, $5 for 10 seeds. I'm still so afraid of whiteflies that I'm going to try to grow two Nectar indoor, but since I don't have any dedicated grow light or real room for them, not sure how well it'll do.

For the most part of my growing I pick up seeds off the rack. If they do well I will grow them again. If they do not I will give the seeds away the next season. I also plant the ones I can not buy plants of locally.

I read your list again and I'm surprised you "fired" black cherry. They're my biggest success. The first time I grew them during spring the plants went 15 - 20ft and was super prolific, still the best tasting cherry tomato I've tried (better than Bonnie's Sungold to me). Mine was double the size of the typical black cherry they sell in WholeFoods. The seeds I used was from TomatoFest.

Max, I think mine was not anything you've described.

Probably what I had was not genuine black cheery. I got the seeds from store bought OP tomatoes. The fruits were relatively small , it was late and the taste did not impress me. That is the reason I fired it. hehe

My favorite seed supplier is: Sample Seeds Shop dot com. They have pretty good selection and their prices are very reasonable, most about $1.50 a pack. Shipping for 30 packs or so is/was under 5 bucks.But they mostly carry OP/Heirloom varieties.

My second seeds source is the racks at the BBS.

I also got quite a few in trades and free offering by the fellow gardeners.

And of course, I same my own seeds too. Right now I am just lacking Big Beef (F1) and Better Boy (F1). I will get them off the racks after xmas.

Seysonn, you gave me very good advice on my possible 2016 list a few days ago. Here is turn about.

Drop Worse Boy or test it in your area vs Big Boy. In controlled tests in both KY and OH, it produced a lot compared with most other cultivars, but only about 90 pct as much as Big Boy. But my real objection to it is TASTE. It just does not compare to Big Boy in taste. At least, test it in your area next to Big Boy. If you do, you will probably never grow Worse Boy again. Since I never throw anything away, I probably have an old seed packet in my seed box (about 2010) that you are welcome to.

I need a new Big Boy packet this year. I will get it as soon as Burpee racks appear in stores. Don't mind sharing a few seeds.

Celebrity is an AAS, meaning it is very easy to grow throughout the U.S. and produces OK. But it is well- known to be only a step above grocery store tomatoes in taste. Pretty fruit, but not worth growing when there are good-tasting cultivars around. I have learned to avoid most AAS since they all seem to lack taste.

True Black Cherry is really a strong grower and producer for me. I got my seeds from Timeless-Tomatoes.com. Less than $1.50/packet of about 20 or so seeds, and free shipping. All the cultivars grew true.

About the "BOYS" , i might get one of each, as plant from nurseries and grow them side by side. That should settle.

My other beefsteak type is BIG BEEF. I grew one this year and I liked it. in 2016 I will plant 2 . Beside being productive, it is fairly early too. That is a plus .

As usual about half of those in my 2016 grow out list will be first timers. I have picked all of those based on peers review.
