Suggestion: First, who will be using the room? If it's for guests, try a balance between masculine and feminine so anyone will feel welcome. Find a bedding set with a soothing color palette to use for inspiration. Greys with yellows in muted tones are fresh now. Find interesting accessories in those colors but differing textures to make the room look cozy. I'd paint the bed a bronze to show off it's sculptural qualities and give it an update. The shutters can also be painted a soft grey to show off their straight lines in juxtaposition to the curved lines of the bed.
