Hope this helps

If your fixture is tall, you may want the bottom set a little lower than 3' above your counter so it isn't hugging right up to your ceiling. I usually start with 3' above a kitchen island, then lower a little if needed based on fixture size. You just don't want it so low that it's getting in your way if you're standing and looking at someone through it.

I went for 3' between counter and bottom of fixture......

I'm not sure I like them (the lights not the height ) but will live with them for a while......
