Rust, cream, teal, Aqua, yellow, mint. Go to a fabric store and find a pretty patterned fabric that has the color of brown you are working with. Observe the colors the designers used to complement the brown. If you like the fabric, you probably like the colors they used. Buy a quarter of a yard and work off of that. Added bonus, you can carry it around with you as you shop for accessories.

If you like orange I would suggest going with a burnt orange. I am currently using burnt orange as an accent color in our bedroom suite and it's rich and warm.

I absolutely agree with @moxiemom's advice about looking at fabric for inspiration.

Blue and brown doesn't have to look beachy, it's really the furniture/rug/accessories that you select that make it feel a certain way. I love white or cream with blue and brown and light grey - probably the best color combination possible - lol. It can go in any direction really from classic to contemporary to modern.

Some ideas for you. I'm actually a little surprised how much I like the very simple color scheme of brown and white. (click on each picture to see the whole thing).

I too have brown sofa and love seat. I have a modern carpet of brown, grey and cream along with two chairs with those colours and a hint of teal. To jazz it up I bought cushions and a throw to tie it all in.
