There are some "repair" type products that can be used on a popcorn ceiling, but honestly we have never been able to get them to match up to exisitng well. We have done them in small, inconspicuous areas of a room.

If this is a highly visible room, have the repair done and then redo the popcorn on the affected area possibly feathering it out into the remainder of the ceiling. You may find that is also too visible and the best would be to remove and redo the whole ceiling.

There is a less expensive and less messy way! We can install stretch ceiling right over the existing ceiling (Scraping off older popcorn can release asbestos). It sits perfectly smooth (so much so that our most popular finish is high gloss) and never fades, peels, bubbles, moulds, or needs repainting. We have over 280 colours, and other finishes include satin, matte, sandy matte, canvas textured, and translucent. We can also digitally print our material with any high resolution image or graphic. We install, it usually takes less than half a day.

nsebit, go to youtube and search 'fixing popcorn ceiling' as there are dozens if not hundreds of DIY channels showing how to do anything you can think of.

We just scraped the popcorn in 2 rooms, did minor and major repairs and we are so thrilled with the difference!
