Window treatments

I'm a little stumped about window treatments in my kitchen. Still have a few more things to do in there but I want to start thinking ahead. The windows are the same size. But one of them is built kind of recessed(it's awful looking but I'm afraid of finding out the reason why they might have done that), so I was thinking since the windows already "built in" kind of, I could do a relaxed shade that fills in to the drywall so it wouldn't be so painfully obvious. Problem is, how do you make windows look like they go together when they have such fundamental differences like this? could you do a completely different style on the other window, or would you do a similar shade and just have it protrude a little bit as though it were builtin?

perhaps a photo showing both windows at once? individually they arent tragic.

I have some bright orange bar stools. Thinking of doing a muted coral like this with them.

yes i think its not a big problem at all from that photo.

Both treatments could have an outside mount (if you do not mind covering trim). They should look the same if they are both in the kitchen (same room). I suggest you call a custom window treatment professional and get a free estimate. Good luck.

Hi Katherine,

A flat roman shade would be a nice way to soften the space up a little. A great pattern with some pops of color would be a great look that would help to draw the eye away from the recessed window. I would still keep the shades the same because you do not want to point out the differences in the windows. Patterns can help hide those differences, but you want to let your patterns work for you.
