nautical design for indoor pool area

my parents bought this house with an indoor pool and were looking for ideas how to decorate this odd space. they'll be putting french doors where the two windows are leading to the outdoor kitchen

Remove the knee wall, extend the flagstone, then go tropical instead of nautical.

I love this nautical themed sitting area. There are many outdoor furnishings and fabrics that would be best suited to an indoor pool location. Look for Sunbrella cushions.

do the knee walls have to stay? they can't count as child security as anyone more than a toddler could go over the top.

without the wall and carpet the area would be much more appealing. consider a kind of water proof finish that would not be slippery and would co ordinate with the existing pool deck. treat it as a single space.

we actually took the carpet out. we aren't sure about the wall yet. ideally with french doors going in where the windows are. they'd be able to open. the door and have it open for entertaining while using the outdoor kitchen
