Ditto the above. Check out crate as barrel for ideas. I like an upholstered headboard to add some softness and then you don't have to worry about matching your wood.

Beautiful bureaus! Rather than trying to match the wood tones of your unique dressers, I would also suggest a simple upholstered headboard.

Adding my agreement. I think something like one of these could be really nice. You can certainly change the fabric. It looks like a neutral floor and wall....so you could stay neutral or add some color.

Agreed with what everyone said above. I've even seen some where you can get the head board so you can slip cover it...whatever you do, I suggest that you treat it in some way. There are companies that will do that for you. In the DFW area there is a company called Fiberseal. I'm sure there is a company like that in your area. They will then come back and clean it should anything get on it after treating it as well. Once you've invested in a piece like this, you want to protect your investment.

Oh that works...never thought of having it treated. That's why I'm a teacher and not an interior designer ;-). We're moving into a 4 bedroom and den new build at the end of the month so I'll be asking for lots of ideas. Thanks for your patience :-)

One more thought. If you can find a platform bed with straight edges you can get reeded trim like the edges of your dresser made or some lumber yards carry a similar moulding. Then attach the trim to the edges of the platform and stain a similar color to your dressers.
