Margo, honestly, I'd like to rip up the floor, too. Parquet makes no sense in a bathroom. But that's a project for another day.

Don't hijack this thread. It's about access panels, not shoe base and it is a 50/50 thing.

The other purchasable access panels should work for you -- some will be obvious and others more hidden. It would also probably work to add a screw or latch to the current one to keep it from falling out. Or, honestly, unless you have recurrent plumbing problems, just caulk all the way around it and seal it closed until needed!
