May I ask what room the uncentered middle top window is for? Do you think/know if there originally was just a window centered above the front door?

The unbalanced windows make for an expensive rehab job. Why not just make the balcony usable and leave well enough alone? I'd add some dwarf azaleas or hydrangeas in front of the porch. That will draw attention away from the upper part.

Try taking shutters off. They call attention to windows.

The widow that is a much higher level than the others could you eliminate it altogether? or else could you lower it to match the other windows it should look fine if you could do that

When you say you are thinking about getting rid the of the balcony, do you mean leaving it alone and replacing the door with a window that matches the other window over the balcony?

Because that is a good idea. It is OK to have a front balcony over an entry without door access. Maybe not ideal, but it would look better.

The problem with the uncentered window isn't so much the horizontal position, it's that the top doesn't align vertically with the other windows. I would replace it with a smaller window (so that it doesn't "almost" match the size of the other windows) and make sure the top aligns with the other windows.

I'm assuming that one window was bumped up to not interfere with the railing.

You can still do a short railing if you think the home requires the decoration.

The design done by BeverlyFladeziner gives the portico idea that gives the house a more welcoming and grand entrance. I would align the walkway to the new entry for better curb appeal.
