With that foliage pattern maybe C. dichotoma. Otherwise I would compare with C. japonica. If you could go look at some nurseries and collections you might find a match at one of them.

Sometimes some of this hotter climate deciduous stuff leafs out here with pale areas due to magnesium being deficient in the new growth. Like on Japanese tree lilac for instance. But the scattered white on older leaves this is showing is probably an actual variegation, due to some other factor (viral variegations are said to in reality be comparatively rare).

Might be fun to see if I can root it.

I'm surprised at the color this year. It had been in quite a bit of shade. Now it's in quite a bit of sun. BIG difference!

Generally the Fall colors in my garden have been not as good as in previous years. I blame it on the dry summer. The only things I water in my garden are plants in pots.

There are exceptions though. Here's a seed grown Japanese Acer palmatum that's been in the ground three years. The sun came out today for a few minutes.

Wow, warm days, cool nights allowing the chlorophyll to go away leaving the sugars to
give the bright yellows and reds in that plant to really put on a show. It doesn't look water stress so the plant must have done well through the summer. thanks for sharing Mike.
