    Very nice!

Quite a transformation. Did you paint the existing cabinets or buy new. Please give us a rundown of what you did. I really like your counters!

Changing the island to one level was a great idea.

It looks great! The island makes such a difference.

Looks great! So much lighter and brighter. Could we have a shot that takes in most of the kitchen?

Beautiful transformation! It is so clean and fresh feeling.

Thanks for all the great feedback! The cabinets were refaced by Home Depot, we choose Martha Stewart's Annandale cabinets in picket fence white so it's all new doors and drawers and the cabinet base is covered in laminate. The granite is new venetian pearl light, the appliances are all KitchenAid minus the fridge which is LG that we purchased a year before we were planning the remodel. The sink is Kraus and the faucet is the Delta Cassidy. I agree that cutting down the island made a world of difference! Here's a picture of the whole kitchen... more 'lived in' with dinner on the stove!

Very nice. I LOVE your three island pendants. Simple, classic and pretty. What are they?

Wow! Night and day change - enjoy!

Carrie-- thanks so much, I've enjoyed following along with your remodel!

The pendants are Allen + Roth from Lowes, here's the link:

It's a world of difference! Cutting down the island was genius! You must be thrilled!

Such a fresh look! Bright & welcoming! I bet this reveal will have a number of people wondering if they can reface their cabs. It's a very inspiring remodel.

Wow! They big view really shows off the entire area. Very nice layout and the dining table is just right. Are those wooden shutters on the sink window? They fit in nicely.

Your "before" was nice but your "after" is lovely! Eliminating the knee wall behind the island was a good move.

It is very open and feels more spacious now. The island does its wonder. And definitely love to see the induction cooktop there.

It looks so much more open and bright! I especially love the difference that making the island all one height makes, it looks great.

A wonderful transformation. I applaud you for reusing the bases. My friend did this a few years ago and it is still one of my favorite kitchens. Enjoy your new space!

We are certainly very happy with the changes! Leveling out the island makes the room feel so much bigger. We're loving cooking on the induction cooktop, so much faster response times than on electric.

Floors are next, I've always wanted the wood look tile but I'm having 2nd thoughts. The current flooring was put in by the previous owners and is the cheapest of the cheap laminate and is in pretty bad shape. Dealing with this floor has made my turn my nose up at all laminates but now I'm giving the higher end types a second look. Concerns with the tile are installation cost and time, coldness (we live in the midwest), and being too loud. Anyone have any suggestions?

Very well done! I especially like the island -- one level is so much better than a raised bar.

Really lovely transformation. It's too bad the floor is in bad shape - it looks beautiful in your pictures. I love the combination of wood floors with all your other elements. I'd give the higher end wood look floors or engineered wood a look.

@nini804 I'm hesitant with wood due to our dogs and other family members who visit with their dogs, I don't want to have to worry about dents and scratches. I do love the look and it would be much warmer than the tile. I'm still very undecided what to do about the floor.

I seriously like: the new countertop, the island all the same level, the new sink, the new cooktop, those pendant lights! In fact, I went so far as to follow your pendant light link over to Lowes in hopes that they had the same light but in oil rubbed bronze for my own build -- but they didn't.

Regards the floor -- there are some excellent wood-like and warm-looking ceramic tiles to choose from. Like you, I'm not going with wood there. I have cats and at least one future dog is planned on. I'm not always going to be reminded when something is slopped down there to clean it up. For extended cooking etc, I will have a couple of removable floor mats to keep my ankles happy (which will be softer than wood, anyway).

I found a before the before photo of our kitchen when we moved in so everyone can see what color NOT to paint their kitchen!

I call that color 'Floraline Green', but it looks better on vintage ceramic planters than a whole kitchen. Great job on the remodel--I love a white kitchen!

Color looks a little like my 'Sawdust.' :)

Great job! I am so jealous of the miles of prep space you have!

I immediately thought of Carrie's sawdust color too. Ha! (But yours looks great Carrie)

I will be interested to see what you decide for floors. I am debating those wood look tiles verses a high end laminate myself.

Go with wood!!! It's the VERY best with dogs! I've had as many as 5 dogs at once, and they have never damaged my hardwood floor, but sure played the devil with vinyl tiles. I always do a high gloss "gym finish" on floors - much sturdier than the satin. Yes, it looks like the local basketball team is ready for practice for about a month, and then it gets a bit duller. it's MUCH easier to sweep dog hair/leaves (I'm drowning in them!) than a less shiny floor. You'll love it!

The white cabinets and tile, together with changing the island height, really opened up the whole space! I like how it all offsets your darker table, too, and the wood floors.
