This about how you want to address the various finishes on the furniture, stained chairs, white chairs, stain table, ivory china cabinet. The white chairs seem to be the easiest to address. Maybe you're want to paint them a color or do a wash over the frame to soften the brightness.

Thanks for responding so quickly! The chairs are actually ivory, too. Must be the bad lighting. I like the neutral tones better, would rather not introduce color on the wood. I found this light on your site. I'm looking to bring something more transitional in, but keep it a little more formal than the lights you're suggesting. Thoughts?

Paint the hutch the same ivory color as the chairs. Love the idea of a more modern fixture. The drapes need to be much fuller and not a shiny fabric for an updated look. Unify the chairs by using the same fabric on all the chairs. Something nubby and inviting. No shiny or overly traditional.

The chairs already have a distressed finish & wash, I think the pictures did not show it.
