need living room help

We are redoing our living room. We had our walls and vaulted ceiling painted the same color...a light gray. Now we are wanted to buy two matching sofas and are considering a medium gray tweed/linen look. Now for the area rug....any suggestions on color(s)? We have wallpaper that has gray, yellow, lightish blue, green and some tan it it. I've been considering a green (apple or palmish) with some sort of pattern but am concerned that this green might not look good with the gray. Have also considered a gray or yellow patterned rug. Please help if you can. I have searched more sofas and area rugs than you can imagine! Thank you.

I like the idea of a green rug. I think gray would be too muted since your wall and couches are already gray. Yellow could work but it should not be a muted yellow, it would need to be a little richer or brighter.

Here is a pic of the wallpaper which is in the adjoining room. I love all of its colors and would like to pull one or more of them into our gray living room....via an area rug and sofa pillows.

Love that rug, Jillian, but at $1,500 I'm not so sure that I'll try it. Will keep looking....

Hi lsgreen. The picture of the wallpaper is very helpful. You could choose a graphic rug pulling the light blue color of your wallpaper. Blue is a popular color and you should be able to find many options, and it looks great with your grey sofas. Good luck.

I personally would go with another shade of grey or neutral. Some might think it is boring, but I love pulling together different shades of the same color. I would be sure to get one that has some texture and have the texture be the dimension that sets it apart.
