I've seen that happen when we've had a stressful summer and then a cold snap and then warm weather (just like this year). It does more harm when it happens in fruit trees. I imagine all the branches that don't bloom now will bloom on schedule next spring.

Interesting. Thanks! I also noticed some azaleas reblooming around here (non encore azaleas). It's been a strange year. Wonder if this will affect their spring performance.

Our apple trees bloomed.

I think I saw a photo online last month in the news where the cherry trees in D.C. bloomed in early January. We'll all see what we get out of the normal springtime bloom period.
