Help with bedroom decorating

I just painted, new floors and tore out reach in closet and replaced with pax units.. Problem is dark bed.. black upholstery part can be changed but to what? or do you think it's okay.. also need advice on lamps I considered white guord lamps or west elm Mercury lamp I do have another bedside table I am painting now .. and over head lighting.. crystal flush mount or sputnik or? I do have a matching west elm chevron duvet on the way..
I feel I am failing with the decorating and nothing is working.. any advice would be helpful.. should I invest in a new bed? anything you would change.. I like a bit post modern, Scandinavian and a little glam.. hope that makes sense..

Less is more. Especially for your bedroom.
I would add:
- two matching round night stands.
- two matching table lamps with glass base ( it adds glam sparkle)
Lamps are more intimate than over head light. Also you can update or exchange them more easily.
- I would remove TV if possible. It doesn't resonate with calm/buddha present. :)
- add doors or curtain to your closet to keep the clean look
- if you remove TV you can add large mirror, that will make your bedroom look bigger

Great room! Love the pax unit. You don't need to change your headboard. Contrast is good. You need a pair of side tables. I would consider something with round edges and maybe different colour/texture? You also need bedside lamps and art above the bed. Like the idea of a pendant or Sputnik overhead fixture. I like your current linens. Chevron duvet cover might be overkill?

Thanks for your advice wicked white.. I do have another side table just like the one pictured.. but you say something different would be better anything particular?

Lovely clean looking, inviting room. Consider adding artwork with calming dark green, keeping that zen look.

I think the bedside tables are too much. I might ad pendent lights from the ceiling on both sides and a small shelf next to the bed. Just big enough for a cup and a book. Keep it clean and simple. You already have a lot going on with the wall unit and dresser.

My bedroom is a similar size to yours. I installed Ikea's Mandal headboard and two clip on spot lights and went with no side tables to free up space on either side of the bed. I'm really happy with the result, and I feel like you have a bit of a minimalist approach too so maybe it'd be a good option to explore :) good luck!

Thanks everyone... Hana what color round bedside tables? I agree about the TV but I can't sleep with out it.. my dark bed is huge it has 2 1/2" wooden ledge on both sides bed and the sleigh arch pushes the bed 5 inches from wall.. I am thinking I'd prefer an upholstered grey bed.. vs new bedside tables.. what do you think? I took a photo of my round living room tables... it does look more spacious.. but no drawer space in them.. I also brought the clear living room lamp.

Hi Tanya,

I like the dark round side tables better if that's what you have. they are less bulky. If you go after "the look" you have to compromise lack of storage :)

TV, consider smaller? Or sound machine if sleep is the issue... It's all about your habit and being brave to just try it for couple days :)

Upholstered bed would be my choice too. We stage with them and love them! You can get them inexpensively via wayfair (that's my go to shopping site)

an upholstered bed or a softer headboard would lean more towards the Scandinavian look. clean lines, no clutter, simple color scheme. adding a touch of color would add a lil personality maybe a soft blue or lavender

definitely curtains to hide the closet

tv appears to be to big for the room. a really nice mirror with a lil glam but still has clean lines would be nice or a really nice statement picture

I would go for simple white small night stands with the lamps in the picture of the staged room. that would add a lil simple glam.
