We are remodeling our kitchen, current circa 1976. The cabinets are hand made and beautiful, so anywhere I can save them I would like to. We have opened up the walls enclosing the most of the stairwell to the basement, creating a great room effect (other than the stairway in the middle). I am open to any design ideas, including removing the remaining 3' walls of stairwell if needed. I am having specific trouble figuring out where the refrigerator should go. I would also like to replace my current electric range with gas.
