need help matching ceiling paint

We have a hairline crack in the ceiling that we have fixed. We need to paint it but don't have the original paint...probably painted 6 years ago so even the original color may not be a match. The ceiling is otherwise in good shape and since we have an open floor-plan the ceiling is seamless throughout the entry-way, kitchen, family room, breakfast nook...you get the picture. If I brought a 'chip' in to a paint store do you think they could match it enough to work?

If your goal is to hide the repair, you'll need to repaint the entire ceiling in order to hide the repair.

Go to the paint store and ask for ceiling white. Almost every home uses this paint for ceiling work. You will need to re-paint the entire ceiling to conceal the crack, but I am sure it will look great and brighten up your space when it is all complete. Good luck!

I agree w/2nd in that most houses w/white ceiling have ceiling white. So id but a qt and paint over repair, priming first. Do you still have debris from repair? You could take that to the store and match. We are DIYers and painting ceiling is no fun. We have been successful doing spot paint and I'm picky
