Engineered flooring is already finished. Wide planks are the most popular style and very few slat styles are available as most have been discontinued. I was trying to match a 3" engineered cypress and could not find it anywhere. Have you looked at Du Chateau Flooring?

Engineered wood flooring is made with a plywood-core
substrate and a real hardwood veneer or skin, which comes pre-finished from the
factory. The top veneer looks just like the top of a traditional solid
wood plank. It usually comes pre finished because the veneer is very thin. It is said that it is more stable than original hardwood floors. I hope this answers your question.

I think you should ask your vendor what sizes he has available and I would do prefinished. No need for the hassle of finishing it on site with the inconvenience this creates.

I looked on-line and there are 2" engineered unfinished white oak slats available.

Google Hurst Hardwoods and give them a call. They have your choice up to 7-1/2"W.

Without knowing which manufacturer you are working with, it is hard to say yes or no to any of your questions. If you want an oil finish you either have to ORDER IT that way (the company HAS TO OFFER IT) or you have to order unfinished planks and have your hardwood flooring professional (who is trained in the oil finishes) to apply that after the floor has been installed.

And many, many European oak floors come in wide planks (anything wider than 4" is considered "wide") which is what I believe you are calling "slats".

Thanks. There is a company in LA that will mill it and finish providing an initial stain and a stain of a section of the wood purchased for approval. Can it be oiled after the staining?
