Just painted my FR Edgecomb gray. Love it. Definitely reads more towards the beige in my room than the gray. Diane's suggestion would work well. Is that your furniture? TV is way too high for comfortable viewing.

that's not our furniture, we will be using something different. In fact we will be purchasing new furniture for the great room. I agree, the TV is way too high for the current setup. I'm not sure I'd like to install the TV above the FP... There is another wall on the left side of the Fireplace that might be a good option for the TV but i don't know if it will look good. Thanks

Once we get rid of the carpet in the LV, we were thinking about placing a rug there. Wife likes modern and contemporary vintage style. Like the one listed below (not sure if i used the right term for style).

I would put the TV on the wall to the left side of FP. An area rug was suggested but it looks like wall to wall already there. Some like rugs on carpet but I'm not in favor if it. Then measure, measure, measure before purchasing furniture. A sofa and 2 or 3 chairs usually work better than a sectional.

Sherwin Williams Functional Gray has just enough beige to keep it warm, but is a truer gray. It has become my go to. I would paint the white space around and in the picture moldings too, it looks too heavy for the tiny fireplace. A large area rug, and perhaps 2 sofas facing each other. I would move the tv too. You can have the tv in a place easy to view, but still keep the fireplace as the focal point.

While it is tempting to paint while the home is empty, paint is usually the last item chosen in a decorating project because it should work with your fabrics and textiles, which you cannot change. Your major textile now is the carpet. Is it staying? If yes, then the furniture and draperies you're buying need to work with it. Then your paint color should fall right in line with those tones. You wouldn't want to paint that big volume of space, then buy furniture and find that it isn't working because those fabrics weren't part of the equation when you selected the paint. Paint can be custom blended to work with your fabrics, once they're chosen. I agree the TV should go on that wall and have a credenza under it that is at least 25% wider than the TV. Then you'll be able to see it from the kitchen/breakfast area. I think you should consider a chaise sofa and two chairs for this room. If you get a sofa with a flexible chaise portion you can arrange and rearrange in different configurations. What furniture style do you plan to use?
