Try turning the rug the other way and floating the sofa perpendicular to the FP and window, facing the TV. Move the sofa forward until there is room to put the chest with the candles and lamp behind it as a sofa table. Angle the chair that now faces the TV in front of the window. Simply turn the other chair to face TV, and turn it around when the subject is conversation. You might consider replacing both chairs with a pair of these swivel glider chairs.

i know some people will scream "neck issues" etc... but have you considered moving the tv over the fire place ? i'm sure sitting sideways isn't easy on your back either ;)

between the window glare the mantel height, and the fact that the room looks good. i say leave the tv there.

Our room layout is very similar to this. We've done much of what Decoenthusiaste suggests and it works perfectly for us. We also got rid of the coffee table (where your ottomans are). Every seat has access to an end table somewhere and there's easy flow thru the center of the room.

Easiest thing to do is to get out the "Moving Men" or cut the bottoms off of some large plastic milk or juice jugs and start moving things around. It is the best way to see what works.

My sister had the same issue and got rid of her fireplace. You need to have a house that works for you. You could drywall over and open it when you sell, you don't need to remove it.
