Thank you. I can't confirm this because I found the whole plant dead in a public park. I'll grow in the spring and let it surprise me.

monarda ... the one i had was a perennial in MI ... why would this one be dead to the ground ...???

We had a few nights of near freezing temps here in north Texas, and the plant wilted...I couldn't even tell the shape of the leaves.

There is no scale so it is hard to tell but Monarda seed is small and it doesn't seem the right fit for shape. Was this in a wild area of a public park or a garden area? Like Ken, I'm leaning toward an ornamental plant or flower of some type.

I am sorry, I got my facts wrong. I'm at the park right now, and obviously, the plants are still alive, not dead like I originally posted. Here are a few pictures. Hope these will help you guys help me:)

It's a Phlomis, most likely P. fruticosa, commonly called Jerusalem Sage.

Oh my goodness, it is so pretty! I'm definitely going to grow some!

Kachana - for future reference we need a sense of scale, even if you show a whole plant. Just put your foot in the photo or something. Luckily the arrangement of the seed heads helps with this one. But there is actually nothing in the photo to tell us if those leaves are an inch or a foot long.
