Lots of backsplashes are done that way. It's your best option if not moving the outlet.

No they had no edge pieces at all. The pencil molding was best we can find. WHat bothers me is how the top piece is on top of the wood. Would it better if it was not mitered & just flat if that makes sense? Will try to post pic

I think I prefer it not mitered.

You could use a schluter strip instead.

If the marble started at the edge of the counter and made cuts in the corner under the cabinet, you could have simply had the edge of the marble tiles eased on the edge. After all, it's stone and the color goes clear through. Then no trim would have been required.

I have a similar situation - the tile just goes straight to the door trim, and so does my counter
