Need Help for Living Room

Hello, We would like to update our living room/dining room area for our apartment. We are looking for a clean, light and warm look. We have a 3 year old daughter and are expecting another daughter in a few months. I am limited in that I have to use a beige pull out couch (please see last picture attached) in the living room. Any help or comments are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
