Baby room rug...for a boy. Too much?

Wanted mostly neutral greys for furniture and crib with pops of color and then the pattern in the rug. Was going to stick to the red, blue sage, some yellow, grey and cream for accents.

    Apologize! First time polling.
Option one, rug is good for Boy or neutral enough.
    Option two, Girls only!

    I like one

They all look the same to me, none really look boysy, lots of purple and pinks.

I'm seeing the same rug as well in all photos. Fine for boy or girl i'd say. The strong graphics and color mix prevent it from being particularly girly.

looks girly to me. more blacks and Grey's and whites would be more boyish.

I think it's great for a baby's room regardless of the sex. The more bright colors the baby is exposed to the better it is for their development. The rug has awesome colors and patterns and gives you some great options for adding a bunch of color to the room.

susanalanandwrigley - and here I thought we got past the no-pink-for-guys thing in the 80's when Miami Vice was hot... LOL!

Perhaps the reason for that with me, is that I would not give anyone pink, but especially do not like the concept of my son growing up and doing his entire home in pink and purple.

Jessica, is that the ad for Pantone color of the year? Oh i see, it is don johnson, trying to make you believe he is from Miami. True Snow bird lingo. Falalala lalala

They have chosen two colors for the "in" color for 2016 a shade of pink and a shade of blue.

i like the rug. if you want to downplay the pink i'd highlight everything but the pink AND the blue. i'd pull yellow and red for accessories.

I would probably generally choose one of these for a girl, but it would definitely be okay for a baby boy for his first couple of years

Nope, should not decorate the room for what you love, it should be decorated to enhance the child's experience in this world. that is where all this style keeps getting it wrong. I approve of many of the changes to infants and young children's environments, and admittedly not an expert on this topic. I do know that young children often fear dark objects in their art, even if they can not express it. That even prebirth experiences have been shown to affect them. So to decide if that rug is best, you should first look up information on the colors involved and the shapes

the purple would be ok, but i think the yellow and red would be more gender neutral. then the blues and pinks in the rug would just be part of a colorful rug in a yellow room, as opposed to a blue room that has a blue and pink rug.

it is Christmas nni, i was teasing. but we did learn more; - )

Infants can only see black and white, so surrounding them with bright colors helps them to identify the different colors. It's for a baby boy - not a preteen or teen - so stop worrying and create a room with a happy feel to it, but use cool colors by the bed to create a calm vibe :)

seems i heard that before about someone else? turned out not to be true. Pretty sure mine saw color by 3 months.

Yes, do create a room with a happy feel with warm and cool colors

We would choose these options for a girl.

Kids love color. Go for it!

@havingfun they start their lives in black and white and then start adjusting to one color after another. Red is the first color they see (and btw the first color to go when you dive) and by 5 months they should be able to see most colors.

Ok, respectfully will put that with everyone, who now oops sees color. Night Happy Holidays and enjoy your rug.
