I don't see any photos of chandelier ideas. Maybe go modern but incorporate some dark. For example an oil rubbed bronze chain leading to a sleek white shade pendant.

I was too quick! You hadn't posted them yet. I always recommend dining fixtures that shine down onto a table rather than up to the ceiling. Especially in an open concept area, it's best to contain the light onto the table top.

Agreed! This will also make the space look more balanced as well since there are such dark floors. The dark chandelier will help bring your focus to the center horizontal space of the area. It looks like the glass shades are not diffused on the darker chandeliers so I think this will help to spread the light in a more even approach rather than just directed down.

Factor in the size of the table and the subject in your artwork.

what is your price range for each fixture... i see you where a in around 150 at the store, i like the second set you choose better for your style and table its not to bad. yes there are a million other options, but based on the ones you liked at the store the second set seems better to me. tho you have high ceilings the space for the table is a small scale so i think it will be plenty of light, unless you read or do book work at that table.

well then i would hold off on the chandelier until you get the table. or make sure to leave extra chain and wire as it will need to be lowered. as to the chair, I might think to go with one couch and two chairs on the stairwell side instead of two sofas.
