ELEVATION PROBLEM WITH FRONT STAIRS

I live on the water and I have to elevate my home 4 ft higher. This has caused me much grief because I cannot figure out how to make the front stairs look normal. I have an architect, but he tells me we will figure it out later. Ugh!! I don't want my home dangling in the air in the freezing cold of NY while I'm trying to figure out the front of the house. Plus the entire front has me worried because there will be so much stucco above the garage and I disagree with my architect about adding a set of transoms or windows above it. Help me please!!

Hmm, I would hate to have to rebuild a house after it was purchased,maybe you should sell it and not have the grief

Maybe you're dealing with the wrong architect. However he's right about any garage transom. That would not look right.

I'd be more worried about keeping the garage doors and complying with the breakaway provision of building in a flood plain. Flood waters have to be able to pass unimpeded underneath the house, and that can't be enclosed unless they are breakaway panels.
