What is the flooring in the room? What is the overall style of the bathroom and/or the house? (e.g., is this going to be a rustic retreat in an otherwise modern house, or is everything on the transitional side, or . . .) Also, sink and faucet are what finishes?

Depending on what part of the house you are in, the style will be different... Entry, formal dining, family, nook, kitchen is French country. Media and game room are transitional. Master suite is traditional. Secondary bedrooms are traditional or French country.
I plan on using the same spruce wood grain tile on the floor but laid different than the shower wall. I'm going for a mix of rustic and industrial in my son's bedroom and bath. The plumbing fixtures will be like pic but in an oil rubbed bronze finish.

First or third choice might look best, but downward lighting may make for bad lighting for shaving. Which is your son's favorite?

I'm hoping the natural light a window in his bathroom and can light over shower will help with lighting when he starts to shave. He likes the first and second.

Since almost everything is a little dark, I would chose a light fixture to match to lighter pebbles or a greyish silver one that will match both the spruce wood and greyish pebble.
