Hmm... I think it depends on if the doors are truly set apart in your hallway or not. You say they are double doors, so it sounds like they look unique. Otherwise it might just look like the one weirdo door that's painted another color. Any reason you want these particular doors black and the others white?

I am thinking you would both need some sort of coordination to it. not just suddenly here are 2 doors out of 8 white? Is there a reason for them to be black? maybe paint the inside black?

I agree with CF and Having Fun. As a designer, I'm curious about the black color and the why? If you are trying to cozy up a space, that's a good way to do it. I'd recommend looking at examples on the net (which you may already have done) to make sure black is right.

If black is it though, another way to accomplish what you're trying to accomplish though with the color is to use the basic paint program that comes pretty much standard on your PC's. I also believe other companies such as Sherwin Williams and Olympic (http://www.olympic.com/color/paint-color-visualizer) let you upload pics and use their colors, so, if black it is, then try another. There are lots of ways to see it these days before you really paint it.

Yes if you are going to do black interior doors they need to all be black, especially if you can see them at the same time!

well i am not quite that iron willed. but something like blk at either end, in the center as an accent-so everyone will want to go there. that kind of thing.

Here are some pics of the doors. The doors open to media room from great room. I am painting the inside of media room trim, interior of the doors and cabinetry black so thought that painting the outside of the doors would look nice and distinct. However, down the hall is the door to my garage and powder bath. It is quite a distance down the hall ~ 20 ft to the garage door but depending on where you stand, it is in line of site. Honestly on a regular basis the doors will most likely remain open so it may not be too much of an issue.... I hope.

I don't think that should be an issue at all, you would want your garage door to sorta fade into the back ground. But the black, though it does not clash really, it does not seem to do anything for your family room, if you want stand out as in an almost artwork, why not go really special, red, gold, silver accents, i saw a padded door, molding is easy to add, you could accent with a small amount of mirror paint. A poster from your favorite movie? Don't just change the color give it personality!

I painted my doors black and love them. White trim and wood floors really set them off. They would look great in your space, but I think it would look strange with only the doors to the media room painted black. Just my opinion but I think you can't go halfway on this look. Maybe check out some photos of homes with black doors before you start painting...

Looks like you have a pretty layout! I think black doors would be distracting in this space. I'd just paint them black from the inside if you want them black when you're watching a movie or whatnot.

My thoughts are same as CF. I was going to say just paint the interior of media room doors. I do love the look of black doors in houses.

You'd usually want closet doors to visually disappear; if so, no, don't paint them black -- leave them white like the trim; alternately, you could paint the closet doors gray and only the doors that are for entering a room black.

lauracam- What colour of black did you use please?

Barbjeffrey, I used Ben Moore Onyx. Pics showed them closed, so you can see them and it looks like they make the house dark in the pictures but they really don't.

lauracam- I love them- the colour is fabulous and I am assuming it is at least semi gloss and perhaps gloss?

Hi Barb jeffrey, I used exterior soft gloss. These doors get alot of use from my family (basement. laundry room, bathroom etc.) and wanted a very durable finish. it's been approx 4 years and still looks wonderful. Hope this helps you with your decision!
