I have black on my doors, and in my kitchen I actually used 2 different pulls, since my island was custom made and I have build in custom hutch in antuque gray, I used a black hammered look pull on that and the rest of my cabinet are dark walnut I used a pewter pull for these cabinets and drawers, you can totally mix and match!

I don't think everything in your house has to match -- I've done master baths in nickel and secondary baths in chrome, for instance, or used a bronze lamp where there was wrought iron railing -- but I do think there's value in coordination within a room. I've seen people go with dark hardware and a stainless faucet and sink, because the latter were functional choices, but somehow it strikes me as odd to do the reverse -- like you just did a partial update...

At the end of the day, you should choose the finishes that you like, since you're the one who has to see them all the time!
It's not uncommon to mix and match finishes either - chrome or nickel in the kitchen or bath and another finish elsewhere in the house.

Maybe you could include other chrome elements in the kitchen to help tie in the cabinet hardware?

It really is a matter of personal preference. That being said we went with ORB fixtures and knobs/pulls in the kitchen (doors in house have ORB too). But then, we both really like the ORB.
