I just never see any with black granite top and a color cabinet everything is light color granite which is a much easier choice

i have black granite top with wood, perimeters antique white with light granite.

Twig: do yourself a favor and post a pic or 3. There is a huge chasm between your written description and real life that will be lost in translation. If you want good advice- or even half baked - there is no way for the community to respond with just a description.

I think if you aren't opposed to color I would paint the island a vibrant or dark almost navy blue or a mid tone, earth tone green. If you want to keep it neutral I would try a darker shade of beige that is distinctly different from your wall color.

Any actual paint chip colors would be appreciated I'm thinking of a darker beige maybe with a stain over to ad depth?

I am a fan of Benjamin Moore Historical Collection Beige Colors. Historical collection tends to change with different light sources and throughout the day. I would suggest trying a few color sample boards in your space to see how it plays off your existing wall color first. If you are considering a glazed finish I would recommend working with a furniture re-finisher or someone who has experience with cabinet glazing as it is easy to get a finished outcome that is too heavy or too deliberate. Same advice goes for a navy blue or green, select from the dark rich historical colors of Ben Moore to achieve a more neutral blue verses a saturated primary color. Quincy Tan HC-25, Alexandria Beige HC-77, Bennington Gray HC-82 might work for beige options, for blue I love any of the HC-154 thru HC-156 Van Deusen Blue. If a greener neutral works better for the rest of your existing aesthetics try Nantucket Gray HC-11 or Guilford Green HC-116. Would love to see finished pictures once you decide on a direction.

Twiggs: after looking at the photos you have 3 distinct colors at play already. The white of your cabinets, the black of the counters, and - not to be forgotten - the mid tone color of your wood floor. There are other considerations such as the stainless steel appliances, then the patterned back splash tile with gold and cream tones. So that a whole lotta stuff going on already! With that in mind to introduce yet another color for your island (like green!..or blue!?) would be a mistake. The island is already painted so you can't have it replicate your wood floor (and is likely not constructed of solid wood anyway). I wouldn't consider glazing one cabinet and not the entire kitchen or else it will look even more mismatched. I would be releuctant to use gray as it will likely not fly here either. You could go with a black base (that is the safest bet for any change here) but I fear that may overpower your room and make it that much darker. You could contemplate having all your cabinets repainted (sprayed only & by a pro of course) and go with an antique white or light taupe. Then you could try a very understated gold/copper toned glaze to bring it all together (and accentuate the flecks in your stone) This last option would be my choice in this situation. Best of luck!

Thank you for the advice of just glazing the island I think u are right maybe a mistake .... color choices may be in the light taupe or Ant. White are good ideas

I will be going to BM store and picking out some choices I will be painting all the cabinets so I am open for any ideas

Personally, I would paint them the exact colour of the walls, so as not to have too much going on... just my humble opinion... as long as you are keeping the rest as they are. Then it will pull it together with your other beige benchtops.

Just a thought, and what I would do myself, in that situation.
