I'm looking for the same question to be answered. I am trying to see what the difference is. I have a ton of cabinets and Showplace gave a great price but want to compare apples to apples. Did anyone ever respond to you Amy?

I just looked at Plain & Fancy cabinets in Mamaroneck NY, and the KD there said they discontinued selling Decora and that the P&F line in a painted cabinet will last much longer. Would love any other input.

Did any of you decide to purchase the Showplace cabinets? I'm also looking for reviews on Showplace. Can't seem to find many reviews from customers who have purchased and used their cabinets.

I don't have experience with P & F, but we're nearing the end of a remodel, and our $30+K Showplace cabinets have been a disappointment. Our contractor commented that it's a shame that they start with quality materials but then construct them so poorly, essentially with a ton of glue. We had to send back several doors and drawer fronts, which, to their credit, they replaced, but it's a hassle that added time to our project. The biggest problem has been that two cabinets, including the large one that holds my double ovens is not square (my husband calls these the Beetlejuice cabinets). One was replaced, but the error with the oven cabinet was discovered too late in the process and will just have to be made to work, which I'm very unhappy about. It might seem like a small problem, and if it were our only problem, one I'd forgive, but the shelf pins are terribly difficult to use and, with use, damage the shelves. So frustrating. I'm a reasonable person, and I expected some problems during our remodel, but the problems with our cabinets make us wish that we'd chosen another brand. They're pretty, though; they are, what an old friend of mine would say, "Good from far, but far from good."

We've had a similar experience to ckahmah. I do love our new showplace cabinets, many of them are gorgeous. But quite a few of the drawers and doors look like they were glazed by an amateur. The glaze is uneven and you can see where someone wiped the stain In the wrong direction and left large blotchy sections. In addition, some of the cabinet box frames don't match the adjacent cabinets.

The cabinets that were done carefully are beautiful. It's quite obvious that there were people with wildly varying skill levels doing the work. As for structure, they do seem quite solid to me.

Replacements are arriving this week, so Showplace is standing by their warranty. Wish us luck that the skilled worker did the work on our replacements.
