Refurbishing old silver plated sconces

I have two, three-armed English silver-plated sconces. The plating is mostly gone. Should I have them re-plated or are they more valuable with the plating half on and half off? Either way would be okay with me...just wondering about not doing more harm than good. I will have to have them re-wired.
