Can the couch move over? It looks rather ackward as is... or maybe angled? I would choose a rug next and then wait for the perfect art piece to present itself. Always a good excuse for spending a day or 2 gallery & antique store cruising for the right piece to show up.

Because you have an open floor plan, you need rugs to help define and anchor the spaces. Could you turn the sofa around and place it on the wall to the left in the first picture? So it would then be facing the dining room?

You do need drapes for your room. Be sure to hang the rod half way between the top of the window and the ceiling--they should just touch the floor.

Drapes need to be at least twice as wide as the window....if window is 50" wide then two panels each 50" wide would be minimum. You could go wider if you want to stack the drapes on the outside of the windows when they open.

Leelee if I turn the sofa to the left wall there will be no room for the tables and the big window still will not be centered to the sofa and the entrance will be blocked :(

There is something wrong in the dining area. First no room for the curio cabinet, and it appears you table and chairs barely fit in the space. Is it possible to remove a leaf from the table to make things fit?

Also, you might consider only having an end table on one side of the sofa, not both sides, as it's just too crowded. Maybe move the curved leg accent chair in front of the arched window?

Turn the sofa to the left, out from the window, End tables with lamps, side chairs to the left of sofa. Rug in front of sofa and an large ottoman on rug. Put a large plant in front of the window.

So I removed the leaf from the table, added lamps, I turned the sofa and no space to walk in to the room

I would bring back the accent chair and move the curio cabinet and I'm assuming that you'll require a media stand and TV that can be placed along side the staircase.

Beverly no media in this room there is a small family room, I was thinking on buying a gray accent chair for the space, and dinning table has no more leafs, yes will try removing two chair and computer will not go there, where would a piece of art or mirror can I add to this two rooms?

Locations for art. Before art I would get the drapery panel installation complete so I knew what the room required in terms of additional texture and color.

If you're not going to have a TV in this room, you might want to relocate 2 dining chairs and the wood end table to the wall next to the stair case.

I've never figured out if you have TV or not, but here's a suggestion. All of your side/end tables are the wrong size. They should arrive within 1" of arm height for the seating they're with. When you add a lamp the two pieces should reach 58-64" above the floor. In this arrangement, I'd put the focal art piece above the buffet.

Decoenthusiate this is a great floor plan, there is no TV in this room I will try this arrangement tonight!!! Have you thought of painting that wall a bright color? I would consider a bright orange perhaps. If thats not your style, i would suggest something simple but with loud colors.

Your room is very neutral, and 'safe'. Go shopping for large art, 2/3 of wall space you have and bring home three BIG pieces you are crazy about and then hang them and see what you think. Remove anything from the room that does not go; ie end tables, etc. Just concentrate on the sofa and the art and see which is most pleasing. This will be your color scheme and you can buy everything else to enhance the art and make it prominent in the room....it is looking very nice! Good job on sofa.
