Snow's coming down here, so maybe. At least until the kids need help getting in/out outside.

I got binding on my mini quilt yesterday, and cut out fabric for a pp block. I'd like to stitch that up today.

From there, I don't know what's on the burner. I have 2 quilts (well, 5 really) that are awaiting my time at my friend the long-armer; one needs backing seems pressed.

So I'm not sure what other projects I'll get into.... I'm sure I could find something to do though ;) It's been a long time since I found time to sew.

I bought a Super Stripes Jacket kit back in September and plan to start it today. I also have fabric for two blouses and a dress, so maybe they will be next.

Although I did hear there was actually some snow in Panama City, there's none here in Central Florida but it's a raw, cold, windy and cloudy day so I'm staying inside. I'm still quilting the feather designs on this quilt, I had posted that I had done some the wrong direction and decided to rip them out and do over, - UGH! Ripping out with a layer of batting is ugly. But I feel better about it now. I am sure using up a lot of thread, I did get another spool of the top thread but I am using almost an entire bobbin on each complete block of white, which is the backing color. I really like doing this simplified feather design that I watched on Leah Day's site. I think I would like to try a nicer one on the next project.

I am cutting scraps into strips and tumblers this weekend. My aunt gave me, honestly, a whole SUV load of fabric a couple weeks ago. I went through it and gave all the clothing fabric to a charity here. There were hundreds of yards of wool suit fabric and knit dress fabric in this. I kept the cotton and some of the velvet and satins (for a crazy quilt). There was also an old TV box full of cotton scraps. That is what I am using the Accuquilt to cut into strips and tumblers. I found some high quality fabric in this that had pinned on tags from a fabric store that closed in the early 70s.

I still have not finished the mystery quilt. I am on the last clue. I also have a quilt on the frame and another on the design wall, so I am not lacking for stuff to do. We only got an inch or two of snow, nothing like some of you thank goodness.

I've gotten all the blocks pieced and half of them sewn together for my child-size Scappy Mountain Majesties. I tried four layouts before I settled on the one I've started, but now I thought of one I think I'd have liked better. I am not, however, ripping it apart. Sometimes I think you have to live with the blocks on the floor or on a design wall for a few days before you commit to a layout. I don't have room for that here. It will still be colorful, but I'm not liking it as much as I thought I would. Maybe I can find a fun border fabric.

We're having a bunch of friends over for a sing-a-long tonight, so I have to clean the condo. Everyone brings pupus (appetizers), so that's dinner. My husband plays ukulele and guitar, and one of our friends plays the uke too. We find the song lyrics on our iPads, and we all sing along. Lots of laughs. So no quilting today. Maybe tomorrow.

I am slowly making blocks that I like in brights & black to eventually go into a sampler quilt. This one is called 'basket weave'.

I am cutting strips for a scrappy log cabin. This will be for the DS and DDIL who requested a king sized quilt for their new bed. She is not fussy and will be happy with whatever I make. The light side will be all white and I had to buy fabric for that yesterday. Today I realized I mismeasured and need more. So off to the LQS tomorrow. Sure hope they didn't sell the rest of that bolt.

I haven't sewn anything yet. I traced the pattern pieces for the jacket then decided I really didn't feel like starting it. Now I'm thinking I may go back to Allietare and at least get the tops done. Or maybe I'll get back to my Provence quilt that has been sitting for quite a while.

Right now I'm taking a break from house cleaning to eat breakfast.

Jen, I'm so proud of you, it is almost a scrappy!

I finished getting the tee shirt pieces sewn into blocks yesterday. I do hope to get more sewing done today, not sure what I will work on yet.

I cut about a thousand 2 in strips out of the box of scraps yesterday. I also got about 3 hundred tumblers out of it. I have a whopping 3 blocks put together on the mystery quilt LOL, maybe I can get more of those completed today. Love the blocks Jen, you know I love bright colors and scrappy! I need to get busy though, I have 3 babies due this year, so I need to get started on baby quilts.

I finished the borders on Allietare! So glad to be done with that top.

I have 2 babies due this year and I haven't started their quilts either. I know one wants an elephant quilt and the other something about under the sea. I know what I want to do for the first one but not a clue about the second.

Lovely quilt. I think I like it best when the same fabrics are used throughout. The design seems much more controlled, less helter skelter than when several shades of a colour are used. Not saying those who did it as Bonnie suggested wont have beautiful quilts but this appeals to me more.

Linda - quilt came out great! I may have to try a mystery quilt, some day!

I cut out and started sewing the February lotto blocks. Stopped when directions said to hand appliqué the stem. My hand sewing isn't that great anymore from RA. If I don't like how it looks, I won't finish for the lotto, I'll machine sew and keep for myself. Stinks when I can't hand sew many things. Also finished 2 more snap happy bags. Squared the bottom on one of them and liked the look.

Linda, I love how your Allietare quilt turned out. Your color choices are beautiful. I don't like things overly scrappy and you have just the right mix. Thanks for sharing.

Jennifer you will have a beautiful sampler with those beautiful blocks. I love brights on black but my eyes won't let me sew on black anymore so I have to enjoy other's projects.

I have been FMQ on my sewing machine off and on this weekend. This past Wed-Fri we had renovations done to our main bathroom so I spent most of those days in my sewing room. This weekend I needed a break to watch curling on TV, Canadians are highly addicted to this sport.

Jennifer, I love your black and bright blocks. They will make a great sampler quilt.

Linda, I think your Allietare is fantastic. I totally agree with Theresa (and you, evidently) that making such a complicated pattern works well using the same fabrics. The pattern really reminds me of the stone floors in Italian churches and civic buildings. I think it's absolutely wonderful! It definitely "gladdened" my day.

I'm pretty sure that no one would mind if you included the stem piece with your Lotto blocks, and whoever wins them can applique them on themselves.

Jennifer, you black and brights are great. It will make a grand quilt.

I picked up an UFO from a couple of years ago and worked on it for a while. It's a HST sampler from a BOM on one of the quilting blogs. I needed to make a few extra blocks for a larger quilt. I've come up with a layout and hope to make the top next week.

Jen, I especially like the sunburst block, a whole quilt of those would be wonderful. Linda, your mystery quilt is lovely. I like both super scrappy and controlled scrappy, it just depends on the block design. I especially like the string paper-piecing method Bonnie uses for so many projects, even if she is only using them for borders or sashing, it helps to use up all those scraps we all wind up with. And of course nothing beats a scrappy log cabin.

About the Feb. block. I did not handsew the stem in place. I did that unit a little differently so as to escape the handwork.

I cut the background unit a tad larger, sliced it in half diagonally, sewed first side of stem to one of those edges, then trying to keep the second side of stem centered on remaining background piece, sewed that in place. Next, I squared up that unit and, Bob's your uncle, no hand sewing.

I hope I am not drummed out of the club, but this was much easier than handstitching.

Linda, your Allietare is beautiful! I'm not sure how mine will turn out - I used a lot of busy prints.

The only sewing I ended up doing was some hand quilting. I was planning to start a jacket, then I thought I really should finish one of the many in-progress things. After house cleaning and grocery shopping yesterday I didn't feel like diving into anything!

At least I got the hand quilting back out. I enjoyed working on it last night, so maybe I'll stick with it and finally finish it!

Linda, I love your Allietare with the constant colors. I made mine in different colors but don't have the blocks all assembled yet.

I had to rush up to Oregon but will be back home soon for a couple of days and will get the lotto blocks handled before I return to Oregon again. I know some must be sitting on my table as hubby is piling up mail for me so don't be upset if you didn't get a confirm from me yet. I'll have it done by 31st. And, I'll bring my February spreadsheet back with me next trip so I could handle it all remotely if I need to, with hubby's help. Wish I'd thought to bring my applique with me.

love2sew.......DH and I enjoy watching the sport of Curling. Unfortunately, I can't find a schedule showing date and where on TV it will be. We even record it if we won't be home.

Jennifer, You are a whiz at working with brights and black.

The block on the left is one that I worked on today. DH engineered the pp pattern last night to my specifications, and I stitched it together this afternoon. [it was designed to go with the block on the right that my UFO friend passed to me. But ultimately, I don't think I'll use her block, or I'll use it on the back.]

I'm still working on the overall quilt design, but am thinking multiple compass' in varying sizes.

Sharon, this is the schedule I follow on the Internet. I don't know if you can access these channels but it will at least tell you when the curling events are on. So nice you like our sport! This weekend was the Provincial playoffs to go to the Women's Scotties and there were some very exciting games.
