The table was given to me by my best friend's mother that I knew through elementary and high school. It had an entirely different finish and upholstery, both of which were outdated, so I stripped down the table and eight chairs, left them bare/oiled, and recovered with faux ostrich. I wasn't sure what the wood was underneath the finish, but got lucky that it was a beautiful, rich cherry.

By the way, I wasn't certain whether to take on the restoration because it didn't make economic sense, but the whole thing turned out to be a labor of love and I'm so glad that I decided to see it through because I love the way it looks and it's special to me.

It truly is a beautiful set.
