paint the console a light color, change out your table lamps, you almost have a heavy Tuscon feel going on here, which isn't light at all. if you like that green color in the pillow start by looking for a rug with those shades in it. and you should be able to build from there.

teak, woven, retain all work well. so does green, blue and pops of yellow orange for vibrant spaces. think palm tree and neutrals here are a few pictures of spaces i think fall into what works for you.

I would do a round glass coffee table with iron, and use rattan pieces to add light. Maybe a sea grass rug to lighten it up. White cream pottery lamps with burlap shades. Light colored pillows with accents of dark bles or oranges and greens. Some Mercury glass. Pull sofa away from wall and add a big plant. Need greenery. Real not fake.

Not sure how big your space is but you have scared the furniture to the wall. A rug will help. Bigger lamps? Pat

Green plants. fake or real, change whats on you walls. perhaps paint one wall. candlesticks or vases with floral arrangements. curtain rods. I wish i was there i would help you fill your home with what you love and introduce you to things you could learn to love. Happy findings.

A huge colourful print over the sofa would add a splash of interest. Though truly lovely and contemporary looking, the black and white collage is lost on that wall. You could use the print colours (maybe incorporating the green from the cushions as well) as a basis for the colours in the area rug, which a fab idea, by the way.The green acts as a neutral colour in your space, so you need some brighter colours to make it pop. Love the idea of a big plant ( a fig tree would be great), as well as pulling the furniture away from the wall a bit if space allows. Personally, I cringe at the idea of painting your lovely console :( Good luck, you have a great space to work with.

I would start by painting the walls a brighter, lighter but almost neutral color - a very soft yellow or cream perhaps. (Always try LARGE color samples against each wall and next to the sofa to make sure it goes well.) After that you could get some more color in by buying a full-size kilim rug in bright multi-colors. And I agree that you really have to paint the console. Good luck.

I would change the flooring to brown and move the leather sectional to the middle of the room, get a mono colored carpet/rug big enough for the sectional and coffee tables etc. The cabinet looks fine to me. Way to go ;)

May I suggest beefier end tables and lamps to match the scale of your sectional, as well as a nubby/textural area rug.

I would not paint the console! The color is needed for contrast against the marble and walls. A richer color on the walls would provide warmth also.

I find that maroons in combination with blues always add warmth to a room.

What style would you like? You've already said you don't want Tuscan. You can get rid of that look by eliminating the vase next to the console table. The dried plants are dating the look. Only paint your console table if you hate the way it looks after getting rid of the dried plants.

Since your new leather sectional looks like it is a recliner, it's hard to add a coffee table, so I would suggest pulling the sofa away from the walls and adding 2 Sofa Tables behind it. This would give you some place to put your drinks when you sitting there.

You definitely need a large area rug to help bring some color into the room. Make sure you place it so the front feet of the sofa are on the rug. I prefer rugs with a dark background, because they stay looking clean longer.

I recommend looking round the Houzz site and saving some pictures of things you like to an idea book. This will help you figure out what style you like, and it will also make it easier to make suggestions when you ask questions.

Almost forgot! You should add some curtains to that window with the plantation shutters. It will soften the look and is also an opportunity to bring some more color into the room.

Move the sofa in the middle, get rid of that stuff around the cabinet and do not do glass end and coffee tables.......

The challenge with beige is it's so beige-ey and seems to attract people to matching it to more shades of beige and brown, which can be very dull.

I would add color. That console isn't an antique and nothing worth "preserving". Pick 2 colors to weave into your design, just for an example, imagine turquoise and orange - turquoise looks great with browns.

In that example, paint the console turquoise. Then pick a rug that has turquoise and orange in it. They add pillows/throws to the sectional that incorporate turquoise and orange. Don't be "traditional" with the rug - get something with some "funk factor" to spice the place up.

Move the sectional so that it is opposite the TV/console. If possible, maybe even break it up where perhaps it's a sofa with love seat, or sofa with a "chair". I like seating areas where there is a sofa to lay on when desired, but multiple other chairs so people aren't sitting in a line with their necks turned to look at each other. And as such, the sofa doesn't have to be directly across from the TV, it can be at a 90 degree angle - still a comfy view if laying down and works for a seating area where folks can look at each other when not looking at the TV.

Any other color options can be opted: lime green and purple; lime and turquoise; etc. Avoid though red or yellow - too hard to get it to pop with so much brown/beige.

Color, color, color. I really like the new sectional. To brighten and give the room some life add a colorful area rug, lamps with charcoal or black shades, dark wood end tables and some bright colored cushions. Really, just play with it and have fun.

This with your sectional would be splendid.

Texture, color and pattern is what you need. Everything in your room is smooth and beige. Try layering a sisal rug with a rug that has pattern and color. Get new down pillows (they stay put better on leather) in some interesting patterns with color and or texture. Pottery Barn, has some new spring pillows out in their stores that offer some nice updated looks and offer you a spring board to a color scheme. Try a few different print pillows out and see which colors will compliment best with the color your sectional. Once you decide on the main pattern, you can coordinate other patterns, solids colors, and textures from there. You could also use a drapery panel on either side of your window just to soften the space. It will give you a more comfy feel to the room. Since your sectional is more contemporary and the cabinet below your TV is more European traditional, try going with an old trunk look for your cocktail table and or end tables. They can work in both contemporary and traditional spaces, and be a bridge between the two designs. Hope this helps.

What if you removed the doors of the console? It would change the look. If you then painted just the inside of the console a bright color, you would not lose the ability to return it to its former appearance if you just didn't want to live with it open after all. Also, matting the pictures over the couch might add color. All one color or varied. I'd go with one color, probably. This is difficult because I'm not fond of sectionals because I like to move things around, but this isn't my home, but yours, and that's what matters. What colors do you like? What makes you want to dance? What bores you? There is nothing wrong with a room that is neutral if that makes you calm and happy. At the same time there is nothing wrong with a room that just is really busy and vibrant and won't let you sit still, if that makes you happy. There are some rooms shown here on Houzz that might help. Some I see are attractive but when I imagine myself sitting in them, to read a book or watch TV or spend time with friends, I recognize that they aren't for me. Others just bring me back time and time again. So the bottom line is, what look is YOURS (and the others who will live or spend a lot of time with you).
