The unit doesn't look like it would work unless you are using a small TV. I noticed it also has a vertical divider that would have to be removed.......in addition to the shelves. I can't see spending that much $$ and then tearing out shelving and dividers.

Also, I think having glass doors defeats the purpose of it being used as a media center, since the objective is usually to hide the TV and all its components from view when not being used. What about using one of the low units and putting the TV on top?

Any time you start taking out fixed shelves, you may be messing with parts that are intended to be part of the strength and stability of the unit, especially if you remove a horizontal and a vertical support. If you have to reinforce and repair what's left, you are paying for something new and then nearly rebuilding it. I'd keep looking for something either old (and inexpensive) that is worth the extra effort or something that is better suited to the purpose to begin with.

You could call C&B and ask if the shelves are adjustable. If they are, that means they come out and you can simply put them at the levels you want them. Did you scroll down on the page and the the two actual TV cabinets in the same line, where the TV sets on top?

If you love it and can afford to alter it and possibly ruin the value, it might be possible to have someone just cut the front part of the shelves and divider back a couple of inches to accommodate the depth of the tv. It seems that wouldn't affect the integrity.

You could also search for tall glass door cabinets/bookcases with adjustable shelves. You may not find a red one, but if you're willing to paint, or have it painted, you could come close to your CB vision.
