Kitchen handles size - please help to choose!

I need to make a decision about the kitchen handles size. My upper cabinet doors are 39.5" and lower are 30". I am not sure if I should go with 8" or 12" handles. I was sure that I liked the longer ones, but looking at so many pictures on houzz, I am not sure anymore. I want to keep it in transitional to modern style rather than traditional. This is the handle i will have in brushed nickel. What do you think, what size should I choose? Thanks!

    I always go with the longer style for that look. Vertical on cabinet doors and horizontal on drawers. Good luck!
