totally depends on the style of house! old Italian style? yes. Modern? no.

We have them, and they're like the ones shown (that is, they're not "real, working" shutters). This seems to be a huge issue for many on Houzz and not one I really get, but to each his own. I'm in an area where the Colonial is the default house style and I'd estimate that well over 80% of homes have this same sort of shutter.

Times have changed. They used to be for function but more often they are for decoration instead.

Shutters are fine, except for when they're not proportionate to the windows! Non-functioning is okay, but they need to be the proper scale. Nothing looks worse than little tiny shutters on a really long window!

Required in my community in Florida. HOA. Camino Gardens was once Africa USA, then sold in 1960's to a developer. Honestly the home look more mid century to me than what they call a bermuda ranch with colonial detail. What is a bermuda ranch with colonial detail.
