Need help with 10 ft Marble Island

We are about 2 weeks away from moving into our remodeled farmhouse. Last Friday, our marble fabricator brought in our 10 ft marble countertop. As they went to slide it into place, one of the men pushed down on one side and a 2ft chunk of the corner broke off. The marble slab is 3cm with a laminated ogee edge. There is also a hole at one end for an under mount sink to be installed. Our fabricator is now saying if he does a new piece, it may possibly break again, with the sink and edge added. It is making the marble too heavy and too delicate to install without it breaking. I have seen many pictures of large slabs installed with laminated edges and sinks. I just do not understand why they are having such difficulty. Does anyone have any advice or suggest another option. I would really like to have the island look thicker than my surrounding countertops. I am open to opinions and options. Here is a picture of the counter before it was broken and before the hole for the sink was made. Thanks for your help.

Marble isn't as strong as granite. It breaks easier. Some, quite easy. Nothing wrong with fixing the one that broke, or just cutting it in two and then seam it in place. If you chose your fabricator correctly, then he can do a very inconspicuous seam.

Breaking stone, even delicate ones, these days is unforgivable. Had these guys spent the money for these, they wouldn't be spending the money to buy you a new top. Don't pay their tuition for them, please.

Our guys used the thing JC linked to. Our marble has a huge cutout (45") and 3" rail and is 104" x 51". there is 12" between the sink cutout and one edge. No problems. Not a fancy edge though -

Here's my 10 foot marble counter run with a kohler stages sink--which is 45 inches long. No seams and they didn't break it installing it. My first slab did shatter when they went to fabricate it. My gc said that's infrequent--last time it happened on his watch was seven years ago. He bought the new slab, no added cost for me.

I have no advice--only sympathy. You must be very disappointed! I hope you can find another beautiful slab, and the kitchen can get back on track.
