The installer says it's suppose to look like this...

Is it standard subway or a handmade subway tile? Was it new drywall prior to tile installation? I've seen handmade tiles look like this but if it's a standard tile, it's not a good install.

well, it doesnt look sleek manufactured... it looks like handmade (or meant to look like handmade). the tiles themselves are not smooth, every surface is rather lumpy for lack of a better word.... i can understand your consternation, and perhaps you have more lippage going on than you should, but to me it looks like handmade, installed correctly.

We confronted the installer once again, and he re-grouted. After doing some research, this is a no no since job was completed 2 months ago.

I don't think it looks bad at all

It looks like an artist put it in, rather than a tile guy. I would embrace it, doesn't look so manufactured.

The lighting imo, isn't helping the situation, a little boxy for being under a counter. Is it strip lighting?

My backsplash looks exactly like that. We purchased the tiles knowing it would look like that though. Our tiles all have a wave in them, so they aren't completely flat like regular subway tiles. Maybe you have the same tiles? If you rub your hand over them can you feel a subtle wave in the individual tiles?

After zooming in it looks like it is a waved tike like ours. Yours looks a bit more uneven than ours though. We had a spot behind our range where the drywall wasn't perfect and it looks more like that. We didn't think it mattered because the range would cover it.

I'm not sure if you can tell from this picture but there's a bit of a curve or wave in our tiles.
