In terms of placement, does the piano have to stay where it is? Is there room on the side where the larger chest of drawers is now? If, so perhaps you could put two chairs nearer the window with a table and lamp between. For the wall on the back, perhaps shelving and/or perhaps planking or wallpaper.

Piano just needs to stay in the room, yes there is room on the right side where the larger chest is.

Can you imagine wainscoting planks, or simple ones more like shiplap ?

Hmm, you already have two quite different shades of wood with the floor and the piano, perhaps for planking, something like a gray that might work with the paint color or perhaps something like a stenciling design for the back wall.

I wouldn't treat the walls in that room. It's too small. You need to use artwork to bring the eye down. I would probably move the piano to the right wall, place artwork and seating on the back wall, seating/bench under window, and add something to store sheet music in. I would also hang or display any other instruments you have in this room, as well. We hang three guitars over our piano in our music room.

love the idea of hanging instruments and the grey wall if you go with planks.............check out the great "lady" art and it draws the eye down if hung lower

If wool is in the budget, a wool hand knotted rug would be perfect. Wool insulates the room and helps with sound quality to reduce echoing.
