powder room redo

I painted the room blonde. had a gray distressed rustic table made for vessel sink . I have dark gray wood floors . the room is just not coming together. the other rooms in house are painted gray . what do you think about a dark gray accent wall behind sink or some kind of wallpaper

Could you give us a few more pics? I'd like to see the floor, the faucet, the vanity and sink from straight on. I think you're going for a rustic look, right? Is there new lighting in the budget? What about $ for soft shades - can you sew?

i would put stripy black and white window cover ( curtains or blinds), and some mirror with distressed looking maybe gold colour frame above the sink to bring things together

do you think I should repaint the room in maybe a light gray

You could do that, but might be in danger of too much of a good thing. Did you choose the blond paint because you want this room to be warmer? I think that's a good inclination. You need pattern and texture in here somewhere, whether it's in art, a rug, window treatments or all three.

the kitchen bar is painted blond which looks great. the blond on the walls looks a lot more yellow

Maybe move from rustic to industrial...this may fit better with the sophisticated tone of the rest of your home...think galvanized metal accent wall ...pipe towel rack..rubber floor mats...mirror with black metal frame with nut and bolt trim... Very chic but a more modern "rustic" feel

I like the industrial look. what do you mean by metal accent wall. should I keep the blonde walls or repaint

Galvanized metal comes in sheets that are flat or corrugated..about 4'x8' panels..mounted and centered on the wall like paneling.. If the wall is wider.... a wood trim at the edges treated to look like the rustic table finish can cover the edges..it is shiny in its newness ...I like to dull it down with a chemical cleaner to remove some of the finish to allow the metal to take on some character naturally..even a little rust may develop over time..to further the look ...and if you enjoy the search ...you can find old metal hooks..in antique or salvage stores .... rusty elements that can be coated with clear varnish to re- purpose for towel hooks ...toilet paper holder...hand rail,etc...
As to the color.. If you liked it in the beginning I would wait til the other elements are installed to make that decision..one option that could go with the rustic feel would be to glaze over the blond with another layer of color to age the finish..perhaps a sheer coat of gray or even metallic bronze..this will let the lighter color come thru with out looking too new...this decor choice requires an appreciation for imperfections...and quirky little details..like for instance a tiny little galvanized bucket of chalk that you can write or draw on the galvanized panel with

Do everything Anniebird suggested. The powder room is a place to have fun and show some of your personality. The rustic vanity is great!
